What Remains
is a project by Ronak Rabiee that delves into the stories woven into second-hand children's clothes, exploring how these garments carry traces of the children who once wore them. The same type of garment may be worn by children in vastly different circumstances, reflecting their unique journeys while it might also carry shared commonalities.
As an artist with a long-standing commitment to sustainable practices, I aim to connect the past, present, and potential future of these reused garments. These clothes represent more than fabric—they are symbols of the lives and stories they have touched. Through creative transformation, I seek to illuminate the impact of social and environmental conditions on the children who wear them.
The project will culminate in textile artworks that explore these stories and will involve public engagement through presentations. By sharing the process, I hope to foster a deeper understanding of how something as simple as a piece of clothing can hold complex narratives about childhood, fate, and sustainability.
